The first project for 2012 took place at PPR Taman Putra Damai, Lembah Subang on 12th and 13th May 2012. The response was very encouraging and 246 residents aged 50 and above, participated in this screening project. The on-line registration process involved 40 trained volunteers from IMU who interviewed the residents and collected personal and critical health information.
240 eligible residents received the FIT-kits but only 192 (80%) returned the kit for analysis. It was found that 13 residents had abnormal FIT-kit results and therefore required further medical consultation.
“You will never walk alone”
EMPOWERED arranged hospital appointment for these residents and a team of volunteers accompanied the residents to Hospital Selayang to assist in the registration and to help allay any fears the residents may have.
Once again, EMPOWERED’s project has been successful in providing the necessary support and facilities in reaching out to the lower-income community where regular health check-ups are always placed in the back seat.
We thank our sponsors, donors, collaborators and volunteers whose support has helped EMPOWERED carried out a meaningful project to save lives!
