Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar Seremban is one of the district and government hospitals that was previously identified as our beneficiaries for free distribution of ‘My Journal’ books to the cancer patients treated there.

This hospital was chosen after we identified that there are many under-resourced cancer patients who are struggling with their diagnosis with little support through their cancer journeys, thus making them ideal recipients for this outreach project of EMPOWERED.

EMPOWERED visited the modest oncology day care centre at Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar Seremban on the 19th September 2013. During this visit, interviews with 3 users of ‘My Journal’ books as well as 2 nurses who are in charge or involved with the free distribution of ‘My Journal’ books by EMPOWERED were carried out.

As the individual patients shared their journeys, we became acutely aware of the pain and tears that they had to endure since their diagnosis with cancer.

This short yet fruitful trip was insightful and meaningful as it reaffirmed the importance of carrying out free distributions of ‘My Journal’ books to cancer patients in district and government hospitals.
