Ernst & Young’s Pink October Month & Sponsorship

19 November 2013

The Malaysian Talent team of Ernst & Young (EY) organised ‘Pink October’ that consisted of a series of events throughout the month to raise awareness amongst its people about breast cancer.

Among the exciting things that happened at Ernst & Young in October 2013 were members of EY’s staff going to work by dressing up with something pink every Friday! EY used a fun approach to address the seriousness and prevalence of breast cancer and to be in solidarity with women out there who are suffering from this illness during this month dedicated to breast cancer.

“Pink challenges” that were activities held included submitting creative and fun shots of teams in pink wigs and tutus and performing their version of the well-known “Pink Glove Dance”.

With the money raised from the generous contribution of staff members, the Malaysian talent team organised a meet-up with Dr. Christina Ng who represented EMPOWERED.

The delegation that was present from Ernst and Young for this small gathering between both parties included Ms. Lee Soo Fern, Head of the Malaysian team, the winning group from the ‘Tax Team’ for the “Pink Glove Dance”, Ms. Sharmila Theenathayalu, Marketing and Communications Manager & Ms. Michelle Lim, Senior Executive for the Malaysian Team.

After viewing EMPOWERED’s video on our colorectal cancer projects, Dr. Christina Ng shared about EMPOWERED’s beginnings, mission and goals through an informal session. The members of the Tax Team were very enthusiastic about EMPOWERED and a lively Q & A session was carried out to answer their questions about EMPOWERED.

The little gathering concluded with the cheque presentation from Ms. Lee to Dr. Christina Ng as well as EMPOWERED in return presenting a gesture of appreciation to Ernst & Young for their support and belief in our work and mission.
